Savannah Fire and Emergency Services (SFES) is steeped in history that dates to the city’s first organized fire company in 1759. 152 years later it became the first fully-mechanized fire department in the U.S. Savannah Fire is a progressive, future-focused organization comprised of more than 300 professional, fully-trained, career firefighters. SFES operates 15 fire stations that are strategically located throughout the City of Savannah to ensure a quick response to the needs of citizens and visitors. Savannah Fire is the regional Hazmat response organization. Special Operations encompasses technical rescue, water rescue and industrial firefighting. SFES staffs and provides additional logistical services which include:
